"exciting" Durham

I'm not going to lie. I miss Minneapolis. The weather has been pretty good here recently, so I can't complain about that. But Durham is not exactly the most ideal city in the country. The downtown is basically deserted, probably due in large part to the decline of the tobacco industry. They're trying to bring more life to downtown in the last couple of years, including bringing in many festivals and new restaurants. So, David and I have sampled many of the restaurants--but they tend to be more hit-and-miss. We've found the best restaurants of Durham in random other places. Also, we went to the art festival in downtown this Saturday. It was much smaller than the Edina art fair and didn't have much. They did have some good live music though. I was really close to getting a henna tattoo, but I didn't want to hang around much longer when a guy was yelling at David because he "didn't support hip hop music", when really we were just walking by. Needless to say, Durham has a long way to go. I think in the future we're going to need to explore more of Raleigh and Chapel Hill. But, I still miss Minneapolis.

Well, I yell at David every day for not supporting Hip-Hop, so that's nothing new.

I didn't realize tobacco had been so big there - what companies call Durham their home?

Minneapolis is pretty awesome among major metropolitan areas, not going to lie.

Hi Allie,

I love your new blog site. It seems much less cluttered and hopefully easier to comment on.

Love,
